No, LV does NOT have sales or outlets.....UNLESS you are an employee. you get about 30% off if you are an employee and at the end of the season, they take an additional 50% off (so at the end of the season EMPLOYEES get about 80% off). BUT the LV bags are serialized so when they sell them to the employees, they know which ones are sold to them, and if they find a "good deal" on ebay, they do investigations to see if the employees are selling them online. It really is no joke to them.
They never go on sale. They never drop in price.
And EVERY DAY some looser gets a cheap chicom knockoff LV bag for 30 bucks and tries to "trade it in" for a different one, the employees are trained to spot counterfits, so DONT get a cheap knockoff and try to pawn it off to your girl. If you like her, spend the 500 Bux and get her a real one, but if she likes you, you wont have to buy her a bag like that.
Of all bags, if you are going to buy an expensive one- Louis Vuitton is the way to go- hands down! It is timeless, classy, and will make any type of girl giddy:) I would never suggest ebay, because most of those are counterfeit, regardless of what they promise.

You can indeed find authentic LV bags online, even if they are sold by smaller sellers. But those sellers often bought them at the end of a seasons at a discount. The only way they can make a profit is to sell the bags to you at a price that near the before-sale price from LV (sometimes, they would charge even more than LV.) Those sellers could service because they was so good at spotting which styles would still be popular after LV stops making them.
All in all, that means you can't expect to get a great deal on LV bags. Your only chance is to pay attention closely to seasonal sales (but, read above -- you are probably slower than those sellers.)
Generally speaking, to tell a fake, you can:
a) Compare the prices. If it's too cheap, it's too good to be true. Smaller authentic LV bags seller often sell at near or at a great price than LV does. You may ask, couldn't the counterfeiters sell at higher prices also. Sure, they could. But think about that, they sell counterfeits because they want the volume. High prices would only slow their volume down.
b) Smaller authentic LV sellers usually focus on limited edition only because those products could have a demand even after LV stop making them. So, we are talking about the 1500+ items. A $700 monogram usually is't their cup of tea.
My sister and I went to LV main store in Paris and we both sworn that the price is much cheaper than anywhere else. No wonder the queue was massive!!!
